Joslin
Davis is a principal in the law firm of Davis & Harwell, P.A. She is a specialist in
family law whose practice consists primarily of complex equitable
distribution cases. Ms. Davis is rated AV by Martindale Hubbell and has been
named in Woodward/White, Inc.'s The Best Lawyers in America for more
than a decade. Ms. Davis practices primarily in Winston-Salem and Charlotte,
North Carolina.
Ms.
Davis has extensive trial experience and has been a member of the American
Board of Trial Advocates for 15 years. She has held faculty positions with
the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers Trial Advocacy Clinic as well as
the ABA Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute. She is currently an adjunct
professor of family law at Wake Forest University Law School and has been
for the past seven years.
Ms.
Davis graduated from Wake Forest University Law School in 1977 where she
served on the Law Review staff. Ms. Davis was a state prosecutor
before forming the law firm of Davis & Harwell, P.A., in 1980, when she
began a career in matrimonial law. Ms. Davis is licensed in North Carolina,
Florida, the District of Columbia, the federal courts, and the U.S. Fourth
Circuit Court of Appeals. In 1989, the North Carolina State Bar Board of
Legal Specialization certified Ms. Davis as a specialist in family
law.
Ms.
Davis is a member of numerous bar and trial organizations. Ms. Davis served
as chair of the Family Law Council of the North Carolina Bar Association and
served on the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Bar Association and
the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers. Ms. Davis has been a member of
the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers ("AAML") since 1993
and has served as chair of various committees. She is currently serving as
AAML Membership Chair and is a member of the AAML Board of Governors. She is
a past president of the North Carolina Chapter of AAML.
Ms.
Davis has been a speaker and course planner on numerous occasions over the
past 28 years in matrimonial law and trial law. She has written extensively
on these topics and has published numerous manuscripts. Ms. Davis has also
held many civic positions, including serving on the Wake Forest University
Law Board of Visitors and as President of the Board of Trustees of the
Summit School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
